About

I build software at the point where AI meets money.

Fast search, honest research tools, and agents that know when not to hit send.

I'm Ayan. I build software where AI meets money: search that runs on your own machine, research tools that cite every number, agents that know when not to hit send. I'm in UT Austin's CS + Business Honors program, so I write the code and read the 10-K.

What is CSB?

Two degrees, honors in both, one small cohort.

  • B.S. Computer Science (Honors)
  • B.B.A. Canfield Business Honors

Texas CSB (Computer Science and Business Honors) is a dual-degree program run jointly by UT Austin's Department of Computer Science and the McCombs Canfield Business Honors Program. Students earn a B.S. in Computer Science and a B.B.A., take honors coursework on both sides, and move through the program as a small cohort of about 20 to 30 students a year.

Where I've worked

  • Real-time semantic search runtime for AI apps. Rust compiled to WebAssembly, sub-10ms lookups in the browser, on device, or in the cloud. Built and shipped open-source apps on Moss's WebAssembly semantic search SDK.

    Remote / San Francisco, CA · moss.dev ↗

    • Shipped 10 open-source apps in TypeScript and Rust (mossJARVIS, Mycelium, Sentry, Thread, StudyOverlay and five more) with sub-10ms on-device retrieval. 77 GitHub stars combined.
    • Drove 100+ stars to the core usemoss/moss repo with technical posts on SDK performance that reached 5,000+ views.
    • Designed the OpenRouter LLM integration layer reused across all 10 builds and adopted by 5 other interns.

    Remote

    • Built OpenCV scene classification across 300+ video scenes, cutting manual review time by 70%.
    • Integrated an emotion classifier mapping 48 emotions to 6 core categories (95% lip-sync accuracy) and worked on a production face-swap pipeline with retries and multi-tier fallbacks across 1,000+ images (90% accuracy gain).
    • Grew the waitlist to 500+ through outreach to industry professionals alongside the founders.

    • Wrote multilingual cleaning and prompt-generation scripts for BelarusianQA, a low-resource QA benchmark, cutting manual annotation effort by 80%+.

YouBank: open project page

The AI deal desk that learns how you work.

Cited analysis from SEC filings, a live Studio that builds models and decks cell by cell, and an email agent that tracks every thread, asks what it can't answer, remembers, and earns the right to send on its own. The terminal has 35+ functions and 328 tools on EDGAR and XBRL data, and every number cites its filing. Built for boutique advisors, emerging managers, founders and students.

How it works
  • Quant models written from scratch in TypeScript: GARCH volatility, VaR with backtests, Monte Carlo valuation, a Treasury yield curve, and Altman, Ohlson, and Merton credit risk.
  • PyTorch services on Modal, including a GraphSAGE model for M&A link prediction and hybrid retrieval with cross-encoder reranking (recall@5 from 0.85 to 0.97).
  • Autopilot only sends a kind of email once a Bayesian bound learned from your edits says it has earned it. 90%+ of drafts go out unedited.
  • 1,000+ unit tests. Desktop app via Tauri.

Mycelium's search palette (from its demo video): a concept query returning ranked pages the user has read

Mycelium: open project page

8 GitHub stars

Your browser history, but it remembers ideas instead of URLs.

A Chrome extension that quietly indexes long-form pages as you read. Search for a concept, not a title, and it finds the page. A graph view shows how everything you've read connects.

  • Canvas 2D

An Iron Man HUD with a second brain.

A text-first personal assistant that runs in the browser or as a frameless, always-on-top Tauri overlay. Moss handles short and long-term memory with local retrieval that survives cloud or quota failure. OpenRouter handles generation. Ingests notes, PDFs, chat exports, articles, and YouTube transcripts.

Hackathons, research & side builds

Two hackathon builds, an optical sensor built at MIT Lincoln Laboratory, and a workspace I made for my own classes. Different worlds, same habit: ship the real thing.

Walk-Free at UT Austin: a 3D campus with a shaded walking route and route cards comparing sun exposure

Meta Global AI Developer Hackathon · Indie track

See how hot every street feels before you walk it.

Heat-aware walking for campuses and cities. Every path is colored by modeled feels-like temperature for the hour you walk it, with shade ray-traced against OpenStreetMap buildings and tree crowns. Six route types pick the way, and Meta's Muse Spark plans the walk in your own language.

Runway's landing page: a runway check card with cash, burn, months left and the date cash runs out

AITX & MLOps World Hackathon · Austin Tech Week

Know the day your startup's cash runs out.

Reads a company's bank feed read-only and works out burn, runway and the zero-cash date with plain, tested arithmetic: the LLM never does the math. It finds wasted spend (overlapping tools, quiet price increases, subscriptions on idle cards, double charges) and posts what changed to Slack every Monday. Agents draft the fixes; a person approves every one.

The OncoSense band worn on a forearm, with the microcontroller and wiring on the outer face

Built at MIT Lincoln Laboratory with Eric Niu

A wearable that shines light into skin and reads what comes back.

An optical arm band: 850 nm near-infrared and 660 nm red LEDs beside a 10-channel spectral sensor, reading how skin scatters and returns light. A tiny neural network runs on the band itself to read skin state, and a browser monitor shows it live over Web Serial or runs a virtual band. Research prototype, not a medical device.

Stack's landing page previewing a computer science workspace in its terminal style, with lecture notes and due dates

Independent build

A workspace shaped by your major.

A Notion-style workspace whose notes, deadlines and databases set themselves up from what you study, in a style to match: a terminal for CS, a ledger for finance. Quick capture turns a line like "PS 5 for CS 61B due friday" into an assignment, and an AI tutor quizzes you on your own notes.

  • 01Thread on GitHub (opens in a new tab)Memory for coding agents, so they stop re-reading the same file. Hooks into Claude Code and Codex.
